• Power Plays and Penalties: The player who is guilty of committing a penalty gets time in the penalty box, thus leaving his team with less players. The other team is awarded a power play and that gives them the numerical advantage.
• Goalkeeping: They are referred to as the backbone of any team, because the work they do is to keep the puck out of the net. Goalies also have goalie gear such as pads, gloves and helmets to protect themselves when making a save.
